Join our team in Chippewa Falls as a Punch Press Operator at a leading provider of complex sheet metal and machined production parts, assemblies, and weldments serving diverse industries, including electrical transmission, warehouse automation, technology, aerospace and defense, medical, food, and industrial sectors. In this role, you will produce precision metal parts using a CNC punch press while ensuring machines operate at peak efficiency, are well-stocked, and properly maintained. POSITION – Punch Press Operator

JOB LOCATION – Chippewa Falls, WI

STARTING DATE – Immediate

EMPLOYMENT TERM – Temp-to-Hire

EMPLOYMENT TYPE – Full-Time

WORK HOURS (SHIFT) – 2nd Shift (Mon-Thurs 4:30pm-3am)

STARTING PAY – $19.35/hour or more (Depending on Experience)

REQUIRED EDUCATION – High School Diploma or equivalent required

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE – 1 to 3 years machine operator experience in manufacturing setting, bonus if it was in sheet metal manufacturing

 

As a Punch Press Operator, you'll be responsible for producing metal parts using a punch press, a CNC machine that performs precision cuts and punches. In this role, you'll monitor the machines to ensure they operate at full capacity, are stocked with necessary materials, and are properly maintained.

 

 

Responsibilities

Measure completed work using micrometers, gauges, calipers, templates, and rulers to ensure compliance with specifications.

Inspect finished products for defects, such as chipped edges or damaged surfaces, and categorize defective pieces by type of flaw.

Review work orders and production schedules to understand material specifications, cutting line locations, and required dimensions and tolerances.

Load workpieces into the machine.

Set up and start the machine, monitor its operations, and record relevant operational data.

Test and adjust machine speeds or functions based on product specifications, utilizing gauges and hand tools.

Install, align, and secure specified punches, dies, cutting blades, or other fixtures in machine rams or beds using gauges, templates, feelers, shims, and hand tools.

Clean and lubricate machines as needed.

Position, align, and secure workpieces against fixtures or stops on machine beds or dies.

Conduct periodic checks on output quality.

Perform standard machine shop operations, including setup, running, and deburring.

Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to management or design teams.

Maintain a clean and orderly work area and adhere to safety procedures.

Conduct quality inspections and document results according to the quality control plan.

Adhere to site efficiency standards.

 

 

Qualifications

Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Write simple correspondence

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

Ability to read and interpret prints and work orders

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions

High School Diploma or equivalent
