POSITION – Press Brake Operator II

JOB LOCATION – Chippewa Falls, WI

STARTING DATE – Immediately

EMPLOYMENT TERM – Temp-to-Hire

EMPLOYMENT TYPE – Full-Time

WORK HOURS (SHIFT) - 1st Shift (6am-4:30pm, Mon-Thurs)

STARTING PAY – $17.54/hr to $21/hour DOE

EDUCATION– High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent required

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE – 1 to 3 years experience in a metal fabrication setting preferred; and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Press Brake Operator will set-up and operate metal bending machines (Press Brake) in accordance with quality/quantity standards.

 

Responsibilities

Work independently without supervision.

Achieve and maintain all required certifications in the work area.

Cross-train in multiple workstations.

Perform all dimensional inspections using calipers, height gauges, protractors, and steel rulers to ensure production output meets requirements.

Conduct routine operator maintenance and operational checks on all tools and equipment, including cleaning with stone, machine oiling, fluid level/air pressure checks, and safety switch functioning.

Select and set up tools, equipment, and machines required for quality production based on production specifications and/or Lead’s instructions.

Review machine tooling requirements and plan set-up/operations to optimize workflow through the cell/department.

Understand the effects of the forming process on downstream operations.

Understand material deflection and spring back throughout the process.

Make machine/tooling adjustments to bring non-conforming output into specifications.

Learn to adjust and control RAM speeds on the press during part bending.

Understand various bending techniques and how different materials react to forming, including growth and shrinkage.

Load thickness, bends, and tolerances of the material accurately.

Demonstrate a full understanding of compound tolerances.

Complete reference sheets for complex parts.

Set up necessary tooling.

Create new programs on the machine as needed.

Produce quality work at the company’s standard efficiency level for the assigned work center.

Meet or exceed the company’s standard PPM level.

Troubleshoot and resolve issues in the assigned work center effectively.

Retain knowledge of each job performed.

 

 

 

Qualifications

Ability to read and interpret documents, including safety rules, blueprints, memos, and basic instructions.

Proficiency in basic business math functions, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

HS Diploma or equivalent required.

Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis and perform bending, standing, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling regularly during shift.

Preferred experience of 2+ years in a related field.

Capable of reading and interpreting documents, including safety guidelines, blueprints, memos, and straightforward instructions.

Familiarity with basic mathematical functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Knowledge of tooling for hemming or offsets.

Ability to determine when to use different I-axis blocks.

Understanding of when to add shims (.010, .020).

Comprehension of V-opening in dies relative to material thickness.
