POSITION DETAILS

Position Summary:


Joining the WIN team as a Payroll and Benefits Specialist is an integral role within the Human Resources Department, and as such, all ideas, input, and constructive recommendations will be highly valued.  The Payroll and Benefits Specialist provides leadership of the payroll and benefit function for the company.  This role also plays a critical role in ensuring employee payroll and benefits are accurately processed and benefit vendor payables accurately reflect employee and company obligations.  This role will represent the company internally with employees and externally with benefit providers and administrators.   

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

Payroll Responsibilities

  • Ensure company payroll is processed in a timely and accurate manner
  • Maintain company payroll system and information necessary to calculate payroll, including wage rates, shift premiums, and overtime eligibility
  • Troubleshoot and resolve discrepancies or errors in payroll
  • Administer payroll tax related items
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding payroll questions
  • Administer any company authorized employee compensation changes
  • Track garnishment orders and schedule payments accordingly
  • Track FMLA and state associated protected leave to ensure compliance
  • Manage 401k and HSA deductions


Benefit Responsibilities

  • Lead company open enrollment efforts and assist with and complete as necessary any employee benefit changes, including new employee             onboarding
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding benefit questions
  • Serve as an internal expert resource for employees regarding company benefit offerings, including health plan, savings plan, short-term and           long-term disability, and other company benefit offerings
  • Develop and curate educational sessions for employees related to company benefit offerings
  • Act as a liaison between the company and benefit providers and administrators  
  • Review, analyze, and validate benefit vendor invoices prior to payment
  • Administer FMLA and STD tracking including ensuring proper documentation by employees

Produce payroll and benefit calculations and reports, including ACA reporting

Wage reporting for Workers’ Compensation annual audit/review

 

Technical Skills:

 

Hands on experience with advanced payroll processing systems, human resource information management software (UKG), and benefit administration platforms

Proven work experience demonstrating the ability to follow standard procedures in making a variety of system entries and computations from employee time entry and compensation data

  • Knowledge of basic federal and state payroll tax requirements associated with employee earnings as well as benefit deductions

Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an aptitude for building strong employee relationships

 

Qualifications:


  • Human Resources experience
  • Possess an Associates or Bachelor’s degree in accounting or an equivalent level of accounting or bookkeeping experience
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in accounting and payroll processing

Proficiencies in Microsoft suite of products (Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Excel), ability to learn and utilize the computerized accounting applications, and possess strong organizational skills with an exemplary attention to detail


Work Conditions/Equipment:


Most work performed indoors.  Physical activity consists of normal office work and occasional lifting up to 30 pounds.  Utilization of basic office machines and computer equipment.  Regular travel is not anticipated, however occasional local and regional travel may be necessary to complete a job task or assignment.
