Kitchen Manager
Position Summary:
The Kitchen Manager plays a key leadership role in ensuring the daily operations of The Community Table's kitchen run smoothly, safely, and efficiently. This person is responsible for meal planning, food procurement, and supervising kitchen staff to ensure every guest enjoys a warm, nourishing meal in a safe and welcoming environment.
Essential Duties:
- Foster a positive, respectful environment where all guests, staff, and volunteers feel safe and valued.
- Maintain a current Food Safety Manager Certification, ensuring full compliance with all Wisconsin and Eau Claire County food safety regulations.
- Plan and create daily menus using donated, free, or low-cost food from sources like Feed My People, Target, IFD, and individual donors.
- Procure food and kitchen supplies, prioritizing cost-effectiveness and quality; coordinate large purchases with the Executive Director and Financial Specialist.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with food vendors, community partners, and volunteers.
- Oversee all aspects of food preparation, service, and cleanup, ensuring adherence to safety standards and operational protocols.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director on kitchen staff training, scheduling, performance reviews, and kitchen operations planning.
- Assist in interviewing and selecting new kitchen staff members.
- Work with the Volunteer Coordinator to ensure proper volunteer coverage for meal prep, service, and cleanup.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or Board.
Professional Qualifications:
- Valid Food Safety Manager Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Demonstrated experience in kitchen management and food safety.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to lift 50–70 lbs regularly and stand for extended periods (up to five hours at a time).
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
