Western Dairyland – an innovative, progressive non-profit organization dedicated to alleviating poverty-related conditions and providing opportunities which enable people to advance economically and socially since 1966, is hiring a full-time Human Resource Director.

This position is responsible for overall management of the Human Resource function and team. Identify, plan, and implement strategic objectives— including workforce planning, recruitment, affirmative action, compensation, benefits, talent management, as well as managing employee relations with senior management. This responsibility includes ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local government regulations as they relate to the human resource function and agency funding requirements.

The role is based out of our Eau Claire and Independence locations with remote work options after a training period.

Required qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field required and a minimum of five years of human resource management experience required.

Supervisory experience preferred.

SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP is highly preferred.

Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations

Capability to build and sustain positive relationships with the human resource team, colleagues, employees, benefit carriers and other community partners. Effective communication and collaboration are essential. Strong commitment to customer service.

Maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong communication skills, both oral and written.

Preferred HRIS experience, including use of the UKG HRIS system.

Proficient with Office 365 and electronic signature & virtual meeting platforms

Ability to use independent judgment in regularly non-routine and/or unstable situations. Capacity for making sound decisions autonomously, especially in situations that may be unpredictable or outside the norm. Skills of adaptability and critical thinking.

Attention to detail and a thorough understanding of organizational mission and operational guidelines are important.

Organizational skills to manage multiple responsibilities/projects and ensuring that important tasks are addressed in a timely manner.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Leads the Human Resource function. Supervises the Human Resource Assistant and any outsourced HR
  • Partners with senior leadership to understand the agency's goals and strategies related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
  • Align Human Resource strategic plan with operational goals, CSBG organizational standards, ROMA goals, and other funding directives
  • Serve as agency Affirmative Action/Civil Rights Compliance coordinator
  • Prepare and update the agency Affirmative Action Plan as needed
  • Update the Civil Rights Compliance Plan as needed
  • Assist the Agency In-service Planning Committee in procuring affirmative action training
  • Administers the management of human resource programs, including:
  • Compensation, benefits, and leaves
  • Recruitment; diversity, equity & inclusion initiatives
  • Responsible for managing safety & health compliance
  • Develop safety policies and procedures and facilitate a safety & health committee
  • Complete annual OSHA 300 report.
  • Provide staff training in relative aspects of safety, including; inspections, recommendations of corrective measures, and review accidents and injuries.
  • Manage Worker's Compensation to ensure proper reporting and manage leave and light-duty assignments.
  • Monitors and ensures the organization's compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law;

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary starting range - $75,500 to $90,000
  • Annual salary based on a 4-day 36 hour work week! Flexible work schedule with remote work options after training period
  • Comprehensive benefit package including health, dental, retirement with up to a 6% match, and free employer paid life/disability benefits.
  • Generous paid time off! 3 weeks’ vacation starting - Annually, 25 hours personal time, 10 paid holidays, plus sick leave accrual with approximately 7 hours per month for full-time employees
