Power Hour: Mastering the Art of Networking

Join us for the next installment of the Young Professionals' Professional Development series: Power Hour. This session is designed to strip away the awkwardness of "networking" and replace it with a strategic, confident approach to building professional community.

Series Description

Throughout the year, we host leaders from the Chippewa Valley for candid discussions on the real-world challenges young professionals face. Each panel features local experts sharing the success stories—and the stumbles—that shaped their careers. These moderated discussions offer a front-row seat to mentorship, with open Q&A throughout the event.

This Session: Beyond the Business Card

We’ve all been there: standing in a crowded room, drink in hand, wondering how to break the ice or—just as importantly—how to politely leave a conversation. Networking isn't just about showing up; it’s a high-level skill that can be learned, practiced, and mastered.

Our panel of seasoned local professionals will dive into the mechanics of meaningful connection, covering essential topics like:

  • The Anatomy of a Chat: Tactics for starting, sustaining, and gracefully exiting conversations.
  • Small Talk with Substance: Moving past the weather to develop genuine, lasting professional relationships.
  • Networking with Purpose: How to set actionable goals before you even walk through the door.
  • The "Oops" Factor: Identifying and avoiding common networking faux pas.
  • Skill Building: Reframing networking as a tool you can sharpen, regardless of your starting point.

Whether you’re a natural social butterfly or a "hide-in-the-corner" introvert, this Power Hour will equip you with the toolkit to navigate any room with confidence and purpose.

Note: This event is for Young Professionals of the Chippewa Valley members only. > Not a member yet? [Apply here!}]

More About Our Panelists:

Abby Fisk: YP's Networker of the year in 2025.  Abby currently serves as the Marketing Manager for Hoeft Builders.  In her own words, she used to be "genuinely terrified" of networking.  To go from terrified to networker of the year is a testament to networking as something that can be learned and improved.

Andy Neborak: Owner of Impact Advertising, Past Chair for the Eau Claire Chamber Board, and retired YP Member.  Andy has been involved in the professional scene in Eau Claire for years and has experience at every level of professional life, his experience and knowledge of the community allows for great insight on how to grow your network and your skills.
