A free family fun event to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Eau Claire County Town of Union will be held 1-4 PM Saturday, October 15 at the Town of Union Conservancy.
The event will include historical horse-drawn rides through the forest at the conservancy, guided tours of some of the eight hiking trails by Sara Norman of Landmark Conservancy, a Fire Prevention Awareness Month presence from the Township Fire Department, beverages, and food. At 2 PM, Town of Union Park Commission Chair Fred Belay will lead a dedication of the new pavilion. After that, Town of Union residents in attendance will be invited to pose together for a photo with the cake commemorating the sesquicentennial of the town for posterity.
The public is invited to join the celebration at the Conservancy park, which is a large, wooded area featuring eight trails of various lengths and challenges along the Chippewa River. The park is a joint project of the Town of Union Parks Commission in partnership with Landmark Conservancy as a resource to tourists and residents from throughout the region, as well as a learning center to provide education about the area's ecological, cultural, and geologic history. Sara Norman of the Landmark Conservancy will be on hand to offer guided tours and share information about the park.
No reservation is required to attend the event. The Town of Union Conservancy is located at 1910 White Pine Drive, just south of Crescent Avenue west of Eau Claire.
