Altoona Boys & Girls Club Opening in June 2022!
At the 2022 Youth of the Year Gala on April 7, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Greater Chippewa Valley announced
that a Boys & Girls Club will be opening in Altoona in June.
Boys & Girls Club programming for 2nd through 5th graders will begin on June 13 at Altoona Intermediate
School. The Club will be open for 10 weeks this Summer, Monday through Friday from 7:30 to 6:00. The
program will have the capacity to serve 50 Club Kids daily. The Club will also provide after school
programming during the school year, along with select full days when school is not in session. Club is open to
all kids and families, there are no qualifications.
Boys & Girls Clubs provide research-based programs that focus on academic success, healthy lifestyles and
good character and citizenship. The Positive Club Experience provides fun interactive activities and
opportunities that help Club Kids develop to their full potential. Because of support from a variety of sources,
Club programs are accessible to all, with annual membership of $15 and reduced summer daily program fees
of up to $15, or at no charge to qualifying families.

Additional financial supporters are needed for the Altoona Club, as well as a potential expansion to
Menomonie Middle School. Board Chair Jason Plante announced a $25,000 matching fund challenge for

In the Spring of 2021, the Board of Directors of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Greater Chippewa Valley approved a
five-year plan to better meet the needs of kids, families, and communities by creating opportunities for better
access to programs to children, youth, and teens. This includes expansion in four communities within the
- Expansion to serve grades 6+ in Menomonie (capacity to serve 50 daily)
- Expansion to serve grades 2-5 in Altoona (capacity to serve 50 daily)
- Expanded access and facility improvements at Lee & Mary Markquart Center in Eau Claire (increasing
facility capacity by 50)
- New Club facility for Chippewa Falls (increasing facility capacity by 100)
